"Aftertaste"
ABC Commercial has announced the sale of their hilarious scripted comedy "Aftertaste" (4K or HD 6x30') to US streaming giant Acorn TV. Set in the stunning Adelaide Hills wine region of Australia and featuring a cast of diverse international characters, the story follows celebrity chef Easton West’s spectacular fall from grace. Humiliated, he returns to his hometown, where he endeavors to rebuild his career and restore his reputation with the help of his talented, young, pastry-chef niece Diana.
Darkly humorous, "Aftertaste" reflects the international relevance and appeal of ‘foodie culture.’ From Closer Productions, the series stars Erik Thomson, Natalie Abbott, and Rachel Griffiths. “The team is delighted to be working with Acorn TV to bring our show to USA, UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Canadian audiences. We cannot wait to share the world of 'Aftertaste' with so many people across the globe," said Closer Production’s Producer, Rebecca Summerton.
“'Aftertaste' has been a great ratings' success here in Australia as well as attracting a large amount of media attention for its fresh writing voice and selection in competitive showcase events at Series Mania - Forum Exclusives and Berlinale-Series Selects,” said Jessica Ellis, Head of ABC Commercial “so we are thrilled to be working with Acorn TV to bring this entertaining, high-quality comedy to their audiences.”
“This clever, well-written, and hilariously honest series is met with beautiful performances from Erik, Natalie, Rachel, and an extremely talented ensemble cast. We are delighted to bring Aftertaste to Acorn TV audiences around the globe, who are sure to devour every episode. Also, it’s our true pleasure to work alongside Closer Productions and ABC Commercial, who are wonderful partners,” said Don Klees, SVP of Programming, Acorn TV.
"Aftertaste" will premier on Acorn TV on 14 February. The second season will start production in early 2022. Series 1 is available in neutral Spanish and French, and ABC Commercial holds worldwide distribution rights for the series.
