All3media signs commissioning deal for the third season of "Van Der Valk"

The project will serve as a coproduction between partners based in Germany, USA, the UK and Holland, all who will take on the creatin of three most episodes for the Amsterdam-based crime drama.

All3Media International, in collaboration has commissioned Company Pictures’ hit detective drama "Van der Valk" for a third series. Three new episodes are to be filmed as a co-production alongside partners ARD Degeto in Germany, Masterpiece in the US, ITV in the UK and NPO in Holland. “With its high production values, suspenseful storylines and beautiful backdrops, Van der Valk has quickly established itself as a standout success globally, and we’re thrilled to reunite with our co-production partners on a brand-new season," Louise Pedersen, CEO at All3Media International, said. "Long-running premium dramas are always high on the wish-list for our clients, so this new season commission will allow us to build on Van der Valk’s international appeal even further.”

The order totals three new 2-hour episodes of the critically acclaimed Amsterdam-set detective drama, which is led by Marc Warren in the titular role as Commissaris Piet Van der Valk.  “We are very happy with the development of Van der Valk and thrilled to go into a third season with such great partners," Sebastian Lückel, Head of Acquisitions and Co-production ARD Degeto, said. All3Media International has already secured a host of sales worldwide for the first two seasons of "Van der Valk.". Since the drama launched in 2019, deals have been signed with Discovery (Italy), France Televisions in France, NRK in Norway, TV2 in Denmark, TV4 in Sweden, HRT in Croatia, and Canal Cosmopolitan in Spain. It has also been acquired by NHK in Japan, ViuTVsix in Hong Kong, ABC in Australia, Sky in New Zealand, DirecTV in Latin America and BBC Global Channels in Africa. “Van der Valk works exceptionally well for us at NPO," Mignon Huisman, Head of Series Acquisitions at NPO said. "It garners fabulous reviews, and we are very pleased that there is a new season filming here in the Netherlands."

Chris Murray continues as lead writer and showrunner, alongside co-writer Maria Ward and Michele Buck returns as Executive Producer for Company Pictures with NL Film.
