Buendía Estudios, Atresmedia and Netflix have reached an agreement for the acquisition and distribution of “Sira”, the highly anticipated sequel to the international hit “The Time in Between”, based on the novel of the same name by María Dueñas. The series is being developed by Buendía Estudios through its subsidiary, Buendía Estudios Bizkaia, further consolidating its prominent position in original content production.

The series continues the journey of the charismatic Sira Quiroga, now an independent, cosmopolitan woman facing new challenges in a turbulent world, with post-war settings in Jerusalem, London, Madrid and Tangier. Adriana Ugarte will reprise her role as the protagonist, undoubtedly one of the most iconic and memorable characters in Spanish drama in recent years.
With Sira, Buendía Estudios is backing a major story with international potential. The series is a high-end production led by executive producers Sonia Martínez (The Time in Between, Money Heist, Veneno) and Paloma Molina (Elite, Cuando nadie nos ve, Marrowbone), working closely with María Dueñas, who serves as the project’s creative executive producer.
Sira is currently in an advanced development phase and is scheduled to begin filming at the end of 2025. It will premiere on Atresmedia in Spain and later be available on Netflix in Spain and multiple international territories, under an agreement that brings together leading players in the Spanish and global streaming industry.
