Brain Comet, a subsidiary of Blue Spirit, has been recognised with the selection of "My Life Is A Manga", for the 35th Cartoon Forum, to be held in Toulouse from 16 to 19 September. The original creation, in 52 11-minute episodes aimed at youngsters aged 8-12, is a co-production with Blue Spirit Productions, a subsidiary of Newen Studios.

Besides Sylvie Mahé, the talented team behind the series currently in development includes Nicolas Monteiro, creator of the original concept, Mathilde Michea, graphic designer, Solène Azernour, director and Pierre Gilles Stehr, criptwriter.

"My Life is a Manga" is a comedy-adventure that meets the needs of the market. In each episode, the heroine experiences a manga adventure and projects herself into imaginary characters to solve her everyday problems. The series is based on the traditional codes of Japanese manga, while retaining a European DNA (no blood, violence or sexualisation).

With this project, Brain Comet and Blue Spirit Productions are positioning themselves in an unprecedented way in manga, with the conviction that this genre can enter the European market and find its audience through 3D rendered 2D technology. This innovative technology, marketed by Blue Spirit Creative, involves transferring 2D production to 3D to facilitate production while retaining the 2D aesthetic. The process had already been tested on Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or, but the teams wanted to go further.

Olivier Lelardoux, CEO of Blue Spirit: "We are delighted with this selection, which is a direct reward for the efforts and boldness of the Brain Comet and Blue Spirit Productions teams. It is further proof of Blue Spirit's ability to break new ground with talent and agility, and its strong ambition to develop unique concepts using a variety of animation techniques."

The Cartoon Forum is a key event for animation professionals. Over three days, producers have the opportunity to present their projects to broadcasters, investors and other potential partners from 40 countries, in order to finalise co-productions, pre-sales, distribution agreements and more. Since its creation in 1990, 985 TV series have been financed, with a total budget of 3.57 billion euros.
