“Couple Palace”
Korea's entertainment company CJ ENM has officially announced the 2nd season commission of "Couple Palace", the mega-hit couple matching survival show, after the show’s successful 1st season finale.
Premiered on CJ ENM’s affiliate music channel Mnet in January 2024, "Couple Palace" deals with 100 singles who gather in a place called Couple Palace to seek out their lifetime partners, eventually aiming to get married. The show stars fifty men and fifty women from various backgrounds who unveil their detailed social status to search for ideal partners based on elements such as ideal marriage values, physical appearance, economic status, and lifestyle.
Developed by star producers Lee Sun-young and Jeong Min-seok ("I Can See Your Voice" and "Love Catcher"), "Couple Palace" has strongly captivated the attention of viewers from diverse generations.
“While 'I Can See Your Voice' was all about discovering hidden figures who are passionate for music, 'Couple Palace' conveys stories of 100 people aiming to get married in a unique setting that combines survival and dating schemes,” said Lee Sung-young, the mastermind of both titles.
Sebastian Kim, the Director of CJ ENM’s International Content Sales, stated, “The sequel commission of 'Couple Palace' clearly demonstrates the fact that the show’s candid, yet profound portrayal of relationship dynamics associated with marriage has resonated with audiences from different circumstances and environments. We sincerely believe the show can further entice global fans’ interests once it is localized in multiple regions.”
Meanwhile, the show’s format has also gained an undeniable amount of recognition from the global entertainment industry as a trending Korean dating show. Being selected for The Wit’s Fresh TV Garden at MIPTV 2024, "Couple Palace" successfully proved CJ ENM’s ongoing ability to address unexpected, brilliant new formats and expand its boundaries with such, which can range from domestic to global entertainment markets.
