Dynamic Television has secured first round of sales for the drama-thriller "Beneath the Surface." The eight-part event series has been acquired by Viaplay in the US and UK, by SBS Australia, OTE Greece, HBO Nordics and by Stream in Belgium. These deals join previously announced SVT (Sweden), NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland) and DR (Denmark) to extend the global audience of the series.
Filmed in Germany and Denmark, the series is a production of Letterbox Filmproduktion, the producers of the widely acclaimed Bad Banks, in co-production with ZDF. The series was created, written, and directed by Friedemann Fromm (Weissensee) and stars Thure Lindhardt, Lene Marie Christensen, Jan Josef Liefers, Jakob Cedergren, and Katharina Schüttler. Producers are Michael Lehmann, Andreas Koblauch, Lisa Arndt, and Christian Friedrichs of Letterbox Filmproduktion. Executive producers are Wolfgang Feindt and Daniel Blum for ZDF.
Set in an island paradise, four inseparable friends created the perfect life together. The friends’ children have become like siblings, living carefree, and protected in an environment based on trust and friendship. But then misfortune strikes. On a sailing trip, one of the children disappears overboard, and suddenly nothing is what it seems. The narrative structure of the show follows the point of view of a different character that is trying to discover the truth about what really happened on one tragic night.
