Electric Entertainment has announced the launch of ElectricNOW Originals, the streaming platform’s own original programming for its AVOD and FAST streaming service. ElectricNOW Originals will be added to the lineup of more than 3,000 hours of free movies and TV shows currently available on ElectricNOW. The scripted programs that are launching ElectricNOW’s original slate include the 3D animated sci-fi comedy “Sloane and The Cosmic Schlep” and the half hour comedy series “The Poly Couple.”

Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment, stated: “Adding original programming is the next logical step for growth at ElectricNOW. We have successfully cultivated a loyal and expanding fan base and are committed to bringing them more unique and original shows. As a genre centric channel, we’re excited to bring both the original sci-fi animated series ‘Sloane and The Cosmic Schlep,’ as well as the edgy half hour comedy, ‘The Poly Couple.’”

The first of the ElectricNOW originals is the eight-episode, half-hour animated sci-fi comedy series “Sloane and The Cosmic Schlep” to be executive produced by Dean Devlin, Marc Roskin, and Rachel-Olschan Wilson (for Electric Entertainment); Derek Frederickson (for Twisted Media); Scott Elias and produced by Anna Elias. The series follows a restless young woman who leaves her home on Earth to find adventure, romance, new friends, and a job as an interplanetary taxi driver for a slew of unruly aliens. But this puts Sloane and her friends in the crosshairs of N’Corp, the most nefarious monopoly in the galaxy, that will stop at nothing to eliminate all competition of its rideshare enterprise. The series was an Official Selection at many film festivals, including Cannes Shorts, Film Invasion Los Angeles, and the Berlin Shorts Award, among many others.

“The Poly Couple” began as a groundbreaking and highly successful social media series, boasting over 1 million followers across socials and 500 million views, created by Dana Hobson and Daniel Wolf, inspired by the true events of their real-life daily experiences as a modern polyamorous couple. Working together with Electric Entertainment, they are converting these stories into eight half-hour episodes that explore the difficulties and often comic complications of navigating love and relationships. This edgy single camera half hour comedy will be available first quarter 2025.

Electric has worldwide rights to both original series and its International division, led by Sonia Mehandjiyska, will be selling the two programs at this year’s MIPCOM.

Moreover, the company has closed four new broadcast and digital rights deals across multiple territories for its crime drama “Almost Paradise.” The deals include Talpa TV for free TV rights in the Netherlands; WAKO Japan for VOD & TV rights; Eleven Entertainment in Korea for Pay TV & VOD, and blue Entertainment for VOD in French speaking Switzerland.

Sonia Mehandjiyska, Head of International Distribution for Electric Entertainment, commented: “’Almost Paradise’ holds a special place in our hearts; not only does it reflect our CEO, Dean Devlin’s Filipino heritage, it also is the first TV series to film an entire season in the Philippines, with an all-Filipino crew. We are thrilled that territories continue to acquire this series and are proud that it brings joy and entertainment to viewers worldwide, which is what we strive for with our productions.”

Talpa TV has acquired free TV rights for the Netherlands; Eleven Entertainment has acquired the Pay TV and VOD rights for South Korea; WAKO has acquired the Free TV, Pay TV and VOD rights for Japan, and blue Entertainment has acquired the SVOD rights for French-speaking Switzerland.

Each of the deals include 20 hour-long episodes making up two seasons of the fan-favorite series, which is currently streaming on Amazon’s Freevee in the U.S. Each season consists of 10 episodes. “Almost Paradise” follows Alex Walker (Christian Kane), a former U.S. DEA agent who was forced into early retirement and has moved to a small tropical island in the Philippine Archipelago where he runs the gift shop for a luxury resort on the island. The resort sometimes attracts criminal elite from around the world, and despite his best efforts to live a tranquil life, Alex is pulled back into the world he was trying to escape. The problem is… he likes it.
