ITVX to premiere MGM's "The Reunion" drama this year

The six-part drama, based on Guillaume Musso’s bestselling French novel is produced by Make It Happen Studio and co-produced with the European Alliance, with MGM serving as its presenter and distributor.

ITVX has acquired The Reunion, the six-part drama based on the French best-seller and starring Ioan Gruffudd, to premier on ITVX later this year. The series will then air on ITV’s linear channels in 2023. “'The Reunion' is a hotly anticipated, high calibre production and we can’t wait to share it with ITVX viewers this autumn," ITV’s Head of Content Acquisitions, Sasha Breslau said.

The French Riviera-set series adapted from Guillaume Musso’s bestselling novel “The Reunion” aka “La Jeune Fille et la Nuit,” Directed by Bill Eagles, the English-language series is produced by Make It Happen Studio, co-produced with the European Alliance and presented by MGM International Television Productions with MGM handling distribution.

It started shooting on location in the south of France last summer with an international cast headlined by Gruffudd, Ivanna Sakhno and Grégory Fitoussi, Dervia Kiwan, Vahina Giocante, Rupert Graves, Shemss Audat, Cosimo Fusco and Salóme Gunnarrsdóttir.

Marston Bloom took on the adaptation of Musso’s novel, which was originally published in France by Calmann-Lévy in 2018 and in UK by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in 2019 has sold more than two million copies worldwide in more than 35 languages. The story opens in the present day, at a high school reunion in the south of France where three former friends reconnect. They grew apart and lost touch, but they are still bound by a tragic secret tied to the disappearance of a high school girl who went missing 25 years ago in the region.
