Keshet International (KI) has completed a deal that will see the first Spanish-language adaptation of Tuesday’s Child Televisions’ compelling music quiz show "The Hit List" produced and broadcast. KI has licensed the feel-good play along, singalong family format to Madrid-based Topanga Crea, which has been commissioned by Televisión Canaria, the Canary Islands’ free-to-air television network operated by regional public broadcaster Radio Televisión Canaria, to co-produce 26 x 60’ episodes with Canarian production company Doble Diez.

Originally created and produced by Tuesday’s Child for BBC One – where it has recently been re-commissioned for a seventh series for primetime Saturday nights – and successfully licensed by KI in Finland, the Netherlands and France, "The Hit List" has the lively atmosphere of a dance party alongside the addictive entertainment of a fast-paced quiz.

Featuring the same format and mechanics as the British original, which sees three pairs of contestants competing to be the first to guess the name and artist of well-known songs, "The Hit List" (Canary Islands) has been localized to extend the length of each episode to an hour, and to feature a song selection that compliments the musical taste of the Canarian audience. Currently, in production, the 26-part series will be presented by Iván Torres, the lead singer and guitarist of the Spanish rock band Efecto Pasillo, alongside comedy actress Mariam Hernández ("En Otra Clave").

The first Spanish-language adaptation of this crowd-pleasing format to be produced anywhere in the world to date, "The Hit List" (Canary Islands) is being filmed in Gran Canaria in Doble Diez’s state-of-the-art audiovisual complex in front of a live studio audience. Directed by Sergio Hernández and produced by Paco Muñoz, this latest adaptation of "The Hit List" is executive produced by Topanga Crea’s Baldo Limón and Alejandro Ojeda, alongside Doble Diez’s Santi Falcón Ravelo. "The Hit List" (Canary Islands) is expected to premiere weekly in primetime on Televisión Canaria before the end of Q1 2024.

Santi Falcón, Executive Producer of Doble Diez, says, “This year, the 25th anniversary of the creation of Televisión Canaria and the production company Doble Diez, we are delighted to present to Canarian and Spanish audiences one of the best family formats on the international market, 'The Hit List', a musical quiz show created by Tuesday's Child and distributed by Keshet International. We firmly believe that this first adaptation of the format in Spanish can open the doors to future adaptations in other Spanish-speaking territories, both in Spain and Latin America.”

Karen Smith, CEO of Tuesday's Child adds, “'The Hit List' is the perfect feel-good family format for right now - it's multi-generational, thoroughly entertaining, and irresistibly play along. I defy you not to shout the answers at the screen. It should be easy, you’ve ‘heard’ them all before... but can you name the title and the artist when you’re under pressure?”
