Kudos Knight appoints Rem Conway to Development Producer role

Conway will be responsible for leading the scripted production hub in the West Midlands in the UK, as well as scoping out and nurturing local voice and writing talents.

Kudos Knight, the creative partnership between Kudos and Steven Knight, has appointed Rem Conway as Development Producer. “Rem is a fantastic addition to the team,” Martin Haines, Joint MD of Kudos, said. “He shares our drive to supercharge scripted production in Birmingham and with him on board, a new Digbeth base, a growing pipeline of productions and upcoming investment in local skills, there is real momentum behind the Kudos Knight partnership and the TV industry in Birmingham.”

Based in Birmingham, Conway will be tasked with overseeing strategies to grow the scripted production hub in the West Midlands in the UK. He will work in collaboration with the Kudos Knight management team to identify and professionally develop emerging local voices and writers. “Birmingham and the West Midlands are a thriving hub of incredibly talented creative people – from writers and directors, to producers and actors," Karen Wilson, Joint MD of Kudos, said. "Working with the brilliant Steven Knight we will tell stories inspired by the West Midlands to audiences across the globe. It’s an incredibly exciting time and big things are set to come.”

Conway kicked off his career with theater production and later ventured into film and TV. He has contributed to the making of Netflix’s “Sex Education,” BBC’s “My Name Is Leon,” ITV’s “Our House” and ITV & Amazon series “Riches.” The appointment was made around the same time after Kudos Knight secured a partnership with the Birmingham Film Academy, a film and television training facility based at Digbeth Loc. Studios. The two companies will work together to create practical training courses to serve the expanding production sector in the region.

Kudos’ first-look deal with Knight will consist of UK project productions, set to be completed at Knight’s Digbeth Loc. Studios. The company has wrapped up production for the first title from the Kudos Knight slate, “This Town.” The six-part drama which will air on BBC One in the UK. It also has a new drama series about the life of William Shakespeare, based on a concept by Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire, in the works.

Kudos is credited with developing BBC One drama “SAS Rogue Heroes,” as well as series including “Then You Run,” “Deadwater Fell,” “Grantchester,” “Code 404” and “Responsible Child.” “Our plan is to change the game in the West Midlands as regards creative industries and in particular TV and film," Knight, said. "We will be a globally important content making hub, hosting the world’s best story tellers and producing world beating international productions. To take on the world we need the best of Birmingham on our side. Our doors are open, our story has begun.”
