Mipcom 2022: Cineflix Rights unveils its market content slate

The catalog features new and returning drama series, movies, and factual brands.

Cineflix Rights recently revealed its slate of new and returning drama series, movies, and factual brands, set to launch at Mipcom 2022. “As an independent distributor with global scale, we’re able to bring our buyers the best original content from some of the world’s most creative producers,"  Tim Mutimer, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said. "What better way to celebrate our twentieth anniversary than unveiling a MIPCOM slate packed with standout dramas starring A-list talent, gripping movies, and premium factual brands that will engross, entertain, and enlighten audiences everywhere?”

Forming part of the scripted section is "Last King of The Cross," starring Tim Roth and Lincoln Younes. Inspired by true events, the series charts the rise of a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, no money, and no prospects to Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul and is set in Sydney’s decadent, iconic Kings Cross district in the late 1980s and 1990s. "Reginald the Vampire," stars Jacob Batalon as the unlikely titular hero, in a supernatural dramedy which turns traditional vampire tropes on their head. "Sugar" is a feature thriller inspired by the dramatic real-life story of the ‘Cocaine Cowgirls,’ two young Canadian influencers on a dream trip which turns into a nightmare when they become entangled in a deadly drug smuggling operation. Jodi Arias: Bad Behind Bars is a psychological thriller about a couple whose lives are nearly destroyed by the ultimate femme fatale.                                                          

The titles join returning seasons of Acorn TV’s cozy crime series "Whitstable Pearl;" Irvine Welsh’s Crime, the acclaimed author’s riveting adaptation of his best-selling novel for ITVX/BritBox; and Kan 11 Network’s multi-award-winning Israeli police corruption drama, "Manayek." Factual series launching at MIPCOM include innovative natural history series Patrick Aryee’s Wild World, (4x60’, Cineflix Productions and Curve Media for Sky Nature, UK), which sees the British biologist and explorer reveal the complex web of interactions that link the tiniest of creatures to the mightiest carnivores on the planet. "Holiday Homes in the Sun" by Raise the Roof Productions and Motion Content Group for Channel 5, UK) scours Europe for vacation homes to rent and assessing each one on its merits to choose a winner. "The Yorkshire Auction House" (Seasons 1&2, 40x60’, STV Productions for Discovery+, UK) traverses the UK, turning forgotten treasures into incredible windfalls of cash.

New additions to Cineflix Rights’ true crime section include "Cult Justice" (8x60’, Law&Crime Productions for True Crime Network, US), which features the chilling true stories of false prophets who thought they were above the law; and "Somebody’s Hiding Something" (26x60’, Cineflix Productions and First Story Productions for Bell Media, Canada, A&E UK, and True Crime Network, US), a whodunnit documentary series following investigators as they search for the person who holds the clue that will finally blow a case wide open. And O.J. Simpson: Blood, Lies & Murder (2x60’, Buck Productions in association with Connect3 Media for REELZ, US) re-examines the most notorious double-murder investigation of all time and reveals shocking new evidence that points straight to the killer.

"History of the Sitcom" by Cream Productions will also be featured in the list alongisde "Close Encounters Down Under," a six-part series made by Perpetual Entertainment for 7Mate, Australia, TVNZ, New Zealand, and AETN, UK, Ireland, Poland, and Romania. The title reveals untold stories of UFO sightings, abductions, and other paranormal events—set against Australia and New Zealand’s staggeringly beautiful landscape. Lastly, "Ghost Ships" follows a team of ocean adventurers, battling against the harsh marine environment, as they uncover the truth about some historic maritime catastrophes.
