The German company Beta Films packed its line-up with 20 titles of gripping new dramas and returning series for MIPTV. Unveiling the trailer of the medical drama "KRANK Berlin", set in the heart of Berlin's toughest hospital, Beta’s slate is headed by Canneseries out-of-Competition title "Maxima" about Argentinian-born Maxima Zorreguieta, who later became Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, as well as Canneseries Competition entry "Operation Sabre", a thriller based on the assassination of the Serbian Prime Minister in 2003.

Further highlights are the colorful YA drama "Stockholm Pride" (6x half hour, UNLIMITED STORIES for TV4/CMore) from Sweden, the French mystery drama "Homejacking" (6x half hour, Lincoln TV for OCS), which premiered at Series Mania, alongside the Series Mania award winner "Soviet Jeans" from Latvia (8x1h, Tasse Film/Go3/TV3/Depo). Canneseries 2022 competition entry "El Immortal" (14x1h, Movistar Plus+/Telemundo Int. Studios/DLO Producciones) about the crumbling empire of 'Los Miami’ Gang leader of Madrid’s 90’s is returning with a second season, while the British upstairs/downstairs saga "Hotel Portofino" (18x1h, Eagle Eye/Beta Film) brings back the roaring 20’s with a third season. "Wisting" (26x1h, Cinenord),  recently sold to SBS Australia, Warner Bros. Discovery for Max in Latin America, AMC Spain and Portugal, and Antenna Greece, presents its third season. "Homicide Hills - Fresh Force2 (19x1h, Claussen+Putz Filmproduktion for ARD Degeto) is the reboot of the crime series "Homicide Hills", which was one of the most successful shows on US/Canadian streaming service MHz Choice.

The medical drama "KRANK Berlin" (8x1h, Violet Pictures/REAL FILM Berlin for ZDFneo) is set in Berlin’s toughest and most overcrowded hospital. Underpaid, poorly equipped, chronically fatigued, and with an indispensable dose of black humor, the doctors on this ward must recognize that they are all in the same boat and pursuing a common goal: to save lives and to stand up to a merciless healthcare system.

A modern fairytale comes to the French Riviera: "The royal drama" is world premiering on Tuesday, April 9 at 8pm at the Grand Auditorium Lumière. From the moment the beautiful Argentine Maxima appears at the Dutch Crown Prince's side, she finds herself in the spotlight. But when Willem-Alexander asks her to marry him, the past catches up with her. "Maxima" (6x1h, Millstreet Films) will be available on RTL Netherlands’ streamer Videoland starting from April 20, and has been sold by Beta to Warner Bros. Discovery for Latin America, Germany’s RTL, Croatia's HRT, ORF for Austria, Israel's HOT, Latvia's LV1 and Slovakia.

On the other hand "Operation Sabre" (8x1h, This and That Productions/Agitprop for Radio Television of Serbia) is the true story of the assassination of the Serbian Prime Minister Zoran  Đinđić in 2003 and the ensuing investigation that marked a turning point in the nation's history. As Đinđić tried to dismantle a deeply engrained network of corruption and criminals embedded within the government, now, those searching for his killer are becoming targets themselves. The series will celebrate its world premiere in Competition at Canneseries on Monday, April 8 at 3pm in the Grand Auditorium Lumière.

But that's not all: on the other hand, Beta is handling the world sales of the Greek primetime hit "The Beach". This is a title from the Greek company Foss Productions with a total of 144 episodes. The temptations of paradise, lazy days, firelit parties by the sea, and no-strings-attached love affairs in the idyllic hippie commune on Crete's beautiful Matala Beach captured 20.6% of the total VOD views on ERTflix with the episodes aired to date. On linear broadcast, "The Beach" more than doubled the channel's average for the primetime slot with a 9.9% season average market share and kept audiences engaged on social media. Turning into a cultural phenomenon, the telenovela was trending on "X" every evening of the broadcast, with thousands of fans engaging with the hit series across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Additional episodes will air in the coming months.
