Movistar Plus+  has completed the first phase of filming for its original series made in collaboration with Suma Content, written, directed and produced by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, "La Mesías." The company has also selected the cast member list for the show.

"We have just finished shooting the first block of 'La Mesías' and we are already editing the early episodes with Alberto Gutiérrez, who we have been working with since 'Paquita Salas,'" Javier Ambrossi said. "We shot everything in the past, which was in the 80s and 90s, in 16 mm. The present day footage is digital. Now, in the editing process, we are really enjoying the mixture of textures."

The series began filming on 16 August in Catalonia and a second phase will begin in early 2023. Its creators take stock of this first stage."The break in filming comes in handy now so that we can start the editing and reset, to get ready for this second part, to finish outlining the scripts and allow some of the actresses to make the physical changes necessary for their characters," Javier Calvo said. "It has been a privilege to have shared this first part of the journey with such a wonderful cast and we are very much looking forward to continuing".

Roger Casamajor, Macarena García, Lola Dueñas, Carmen Machi, Ana Rujas, Albert Pla, Amaia, Biel Rossell and Cecilia Roth will form part of the show, as well as Nora Navas, Gracia Olayo, Aixa Villagrán, Carla Díaz, Betsy Túrnez, Ángeles Ortega, Mari Paz Sayago and Rossy de Palma. The series also features a very young cast making their debut after a long search process, involving several casting calls by Eva Leira and Yolanda Serrano. 'La Mesías' is the first break for Irene Balmes, Bruno Núñez, Carla Moral, Iona Roig, Lluc Jornet, Sara Martínez, Arlet Zafra, Joana Buch and Ninoska Linares, who play the children and teenagers.
