ICS Nordic has unveiled a new documentary detailing the life of Maila Nurmi, the American actress best known for creating the camp 1950s character, Vampira. "We are captivated by Vampira's life journey and the profound influence she had on pop culture. Her story is filled with grit, glamour and mystery, making it a perfect fit for our narrative style," Ilkka Hynninen, creative director of ICS Nordic, said. "We aim to shed light on the life of this iconic woman — a voice that shouted ‘me too’ decades before the rest of the world — and her enduring influence on the world of entertainment."

The 90-minute feature documentary, "Glamour Ghoul" Maila Nurmi story, will be distributed by UK-based, Rainmaker Content, who will represent the films in all territories. Joining Ilkka Hynninen on the creative team is well-known Finnish actor and writer Irina Isberg, who will help shape the project’s narrative structure and thematic development. The creative team will also include respected Finnish producer Erna Aalto, who is set to join ICS Nordic next month as partner and operations director.

"Partnering with ICS Nordic for the first time on this venture is an exciting moment," Greg Phillips, CEO of Rainmaker Content, said. "We’ve long admired the two Ilkka’s passion for storytelling and their commitment to producing content of international quality. The story of Vampira is timeless and, when harnessed to the creative power of ICS, the result will be a ‘must-see’ for audiences worldwide."

The in-development series and documentary will examine the life and legacy of Nurmi, television’s first ‘horror host’ and creator of "The Vampira Show." Nurmi’s story offers a perspective on fame, fear and feminism, fitting ICS Nordic’s theme of strong female characters. The Tampere-based creative hub launched last September by Finnish media executives llkka Hynninen and Ilkka Rahkonen.
