RMVISTAR Founder and President Rose Marie Vega has announced the comapny's ability to secure "Jupía." “Earlier in my career I was fortunate to have worked with an amazing group of executives who took me under their wing,"  Vega said. "When I formed RMVISTAR a decade ago it was my goal to work with and help support our industry’s wonderfully-talented women – those in front of and those behind the camera.  So, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce new audiences globally to Leticia and Julietta’s incredible filmmaking and to share 'Jupía' with them.”

The new Dominican thriller was co-written and produced by multi-award-winner Leticia Tonos and Julietta Rodriguez. Tonos is considered by many to be the first Dominican woman to write, produce and direct a feature film.  Her film debut, "La Hija Natural" has been recognized at the 27th Chicago Latino Film Festival, Best Fiction at the San Jose Film Festival, Audience Choice Award at the 4th Global Dominican Film Festival, among others.  The title, as well as her second feature "Cristo Rey" films were the Dominican Republic’s Official Representative at the Oscars.

Tonos also received a La Silla Award for Best Director for her next film, “Juanita” in 2018. Ms. Tonos‘ “A State of Madness” last year was also the Dominican Republic’s Official Representative at the Oscars.  In addition, her producing partner Ms. Rodriguez has been recognized with the Best Actress Award at the Soberanos Awards in 2012 and Best Supporting Actress at the Iris Awards in 2017 for her performance in Flor de Azúcar (2016).

The Investigation of the murder of his wife and the disappearance of his daughter led Tomas Garcia, a skeptical police investigator, who has fallen into depression, to a dilapidated nursing home on the outskirts of the city, where he’ll be confronted with Atabey, an enigmatic nurse with mysterious powers. Inspired by the Taino legends of the Caribbean region the film informs us how these myths influence our present in unexpected ways.  Leticia and Julietta are confident that “the lovers of this genre will have the opportunity to enjoy a fresh and visually striking film that will take them to the depths of unexplored exotic legends.”
