Sony announced international distribution deals for “Red Eye”

The company sold the British action thriller to more than 120 territories worldwide, including Paramount+ in Canada, Netflix in Germany, Max and HBO Max in CEE, and France TV.

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has announced a series of international distribution agreements for its high-stakes action thriller “Red Eye,” closing deals for more than 120 territories worldwide. Some highlighted deals include those with France Televisions, Netflix for Germany, Stan for Australia, Paramount+ for Canada, and Max and HBO Max for Central and Eastern Europe. MNET’s Showmax acquired the production for its service across Sub-Saharan Africa, AXN Asia took rights in Southeast Asia and TVING in Korea, among other deals.

“Red Eye” premiered on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK, where it became the channels’ second most-watched new drama of the year with over 8 million viewers.

“The global response to Red Eye speaks to the high demand for compelling storytelling with broad appeal,” said Mike Wald, EVP of international distribution and networks at Sony Pictures Television. “This series absolutely delivers on exactly what audiences around the world are seeking– thrilling and fun television.”

Created by screenwriter Peter A Dowling, Red Eye is a six-episode thriller that intertwines the stories of police inspector Hana Li (Jing Lusi), journalist Jess Li (Jemma Moore) and MI5 agent Madeline Delaney (Lesley Sharp) as they become entangled in a conspiracy surrounding the arrest of British doctor Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage) for murder upon his return from Beijing.
