Organizers for the 6th edition of the European Work in Progress Cologne, scheduled to take place from 16 to 18 October, are now accepting submissions from European productions or co-productions with at least one European country involved and in the shooting, later stage of production or post-production. The deadline to submit the projects is 1 September 2023.
A total of up to 30 European documentary, animation and fiction feature films will be selected by the committee to be presented exclusively to world sales companies, distributors, festival programmers and film industry professionals during the event. Eligible projects must have shooting material readily available to be presented to a panel of film industry representatives, and should be support with final financing or finding suitable partners for an adequate international release strategy.
As a result of a partnership between EWIP and TorinoFilmLab, a selection of film projects developed or supported within the FeatureLab, ScriptLab and TFL Funds programs and now in post-production stage will form part of the EWIP official selection. The selected European (co-)productions will be elegible for different EWIP Awards, including post-production services worth around 50,000 € provided by partners, such as K13 Studios, MMC Film & TV Studios, LAVAlabs Moving Images, Dolby, Gruvi, Way Film, mm filmpresse as well as the EWIP TorinoFilmLab Audience Design Award. A jury of renowned film professionals will be once again awarding them to the best projects.
The pitches are scheduled to take center stage for a maximum of 15 minutes, including film excerpts and a Q&A. The 6th edition of European Work in Progress Cologne (EWIP) is supported by European leading film funding institution, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, and organized in collaboration with the Film Festival Cologne, scheduled to take place on 19-26 October 2023, as well as AG Verleih, the association of German independent film distributors. In addition to the pitches, the event will also offer networking opportunities, such as one-to-one meetings, panel discussions, workshops and evening events.
