"The Traitors" will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer for a third series. Applications are now open for those interested in plying the game. This announcement is made in advance of the hotly anticipated second series which is coming soon. “We’re delighted a third series of The Traitors has been confirmed today ahead of the second series’ arrival on BBC One and BBC iPlayer," Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, said.
"The Traitors" is produced by Studio Lambert Scotland for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The third series of "The Traitors" has been commissioned by Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC. The executive producers for Studio Lambert Scotland are Mike Cotton, Sarah Fay, Lewis Thurlow and Rosie Franks, and the line producer is Gemma Scholes. The commissioning editors for the BBC are Neil McCallum and Syeda Irtizaali. Created in the Netherlands by IDTV, an All3Media company, "The Traitors" format was further developed with the RTL Creative Unit and originally produced by IDTV for RTL4. All3Media International is global partner for The Traitors and handles format and tape sales worldwide. Studio Lambert is part of the All3Media group.
"The Traitors" reached 21 million audiences last series, and was the biggest brand new entertainment launch for the BBC since 2021. "The Traitors" was the biggest new series for young audiences across all BBC titles in 2022, and the highest rating new entertainment series on the BBC since at least 2017 for young audiences. This year The Traitors scooped a host of awards including the BAFTA TV Award for Best Reality & Constructed Factual, the NTA for Reality Competition, the RTS award for Entertainment and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Entertainment Program.
While Claudia Winkleman won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Entertainment Performance, the RTS award for Entertainment Performance and the Edinburgh TV Festival Variety Outstanding Achievement Award.
