Tim Gerhartz will be ZDF Studios' new Chief Commercial Officer

Former Red Arrow Studios executive to oversee international distribution, marketing, and strategic business development at ZDF Studios, reinforcing its global ambitions.

ZDF Studios announced that Tim Gerhartz will join the company as Chief Commercial Officer starting October 1, 2025, assuming responsibility for all sales, marketing, and business development activities. The appointment underscores ZDF Studios’ continued focus on strengthening its global footprint and developing strategic partnerships across the international media landscape.

Gerhartz, who most recently served as President & Managing Director of Red Arrow Studios International, brings more than 15 years of experience in international distribution and strategy. During his tenure at Red Arrow, he oversaw the worldwide rollout of formats like “Married at First Sight” and scripted hits such as “Vienna Blood” and “Departure,” significantly increasing the company’s market presence. Before that, he held key roles at international distributors including ITV Studios Germany and ZDF Enterprises.

In his new role, Gerhartz will oversee ZDF Studios’ worldwide distribution of scripted, unscripted, and kids’ content, which already spans more than 150,000 hours of programming sold in over 120 territories. According to company data, ZDF Studios generated over €350 million in revenue last year, with more than 60% coming from international sales. The company aims to grow its share of international business further, particularly in North America, Asia, and digital platforms.
