ZDF Enterprises recently acquired 11 of Viaplay's popular Scandinavian dramas. The title are scheduled to air on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service later this year. "Our catalogue is unrivalled when it comes to top quality Scandinavian drama, with titles from Emmy Award winning creators and Oscar nominated producers. The package deal includes the new 8-part series "Grow," as well as the 10-part "Huss," inspired by Helene Tursten’s best selling novels, as well as "Along with Grow and Huss," Viaplay’s new streaming service in the US will premiere "Thicker Than Water. The 17-part show will display a family saga that uncovers hidden truths and dark secrets, and the political thriller Blue Eyes.
The deal also includes two series from 3 time Emmy Award winners, Peter Thorsboe and Mai Brostrøm, the creators of The Team (8x60’), portraying a group of European police officers fighting international crime, and it’s follow-up Team Reloaded (8x60’). The gripping Scandinavian noir drama, Stockholm Requiem (10x45’), from Piodor Gustafsson, the producer of the Oscar nominated feature films, Border and The Wife, will also premiere on Viaplay US as well as The Dying Detective (3x60’), based on the eponymous novel by acclaimed author Leif GW Persson.
Three other crime dramas set to sir, belonging to Johan Falk, the 20-part "The Protectors" and eight-part "Top Dog." Johan Falk serves as a tense thriller based on actual Swedish criminal cases from SSI files while the Danish series, The Protectors, focuses on the lives and missions of specialist bodyguards. Top Dog features an unorthodox duo, a lawyer and ex-con who collaborate to solve cases.
