Netflix recent partnered with The Seven, a production company owned by TBS Holdings. Over the next five years, The Seven will produce multiple original live-action titles that will be exclusively available to Netflix members across 190 countries.
The partnership is confirmed in correlation with a growing demand for Japanese programming both domestically and internationally. "This collaboration further deepens our relationship with TBS, whose popular drama series are already being streamed on Netflix," Akira Morii, Tomofumi Akahane, Tatsuo Sugai at The Seven. "The Seven will also have access to an expansive new studio lot of almost 1000 square meters, slated to be one of the largest and most advanced soundstages of its kind in Japan when completed next year, ensuring best-in-class quality for Netflix productions."
The Seven's objective is to find innovative ways to tell stories from Japan. "Our partnership gives them the scale in production and budget, the creative freedom, and the reach to share their groundbreaking showstoppers with the world," a recent press release states.
The Seven's list of creators, which includes Akira Morii, has helped produce series, such as "Alice in Borderland," "Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead" and "Yu Yu Hakusho," while leading visual effects producer Tomofumi Akahane will also contribute to the partnership.
