Secret Cinema's second international expansion will consist of Netflix's "Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience. The new production set is scheduled to open for customers on  26th August 2020.

Netflix announced the launch on Thursday. The streamer has an ongoing partnership with Secret Cinema, as well as Walt Disney Studios’ Studio LAB at the beginning of this year to deliver several experiences based on Disney films. “The beloved Netflix original series, created by The Duffer Brothers, will be transformed into an immersive theatrical production, complete with mind-bending sets, actors in costume, and otherworldly special effects," the announcement said.

A series of buildings in downtown Los Angeles was transformed into the theater production set, inspired by locations in the series. The finished product appears to be somewhat of a cross between a theme park and a live theater show. Attendees will experience scenes from the Netflix series from inside their cars.  The new format for the company was designed according to the current circumstances surrounding the pandemic.

Netflix says tickets will go on sale for USD 59 per car, with a “variety of packages available,” though any additional bundles or prices remain unannounced.  “Upon entry, guests will drive their vehicles (in groups of 24 cars) through the multi-level experience, stopping for extended periods of time for scenes to play out around them,” the announcement reads. “They will then be guided to drive to the next scene, where they park again for another ‘chapter’ in the story.”

According to Netflix, iconic locations from the show will be featured, including the newly opened Starcourt Mall, the secret underground Russian lab, and the supernatural Upside Down from the show’s third season, which debuted last summer.
