SkyShowtime has acquired two new original series "Mentiras Pasajeras" and "Las Invisibles," scheduled to become available on the service later this year in Spain and Portugal. The addition will strengthen the service's growing slate of local content.
"Las Invisibles," produced by Paramount and Morena Films, will be showcased at the Malaga Film Festival on 16 March, featuring an exclusive screening of the first two episodes to the public alongside a hosted Q&A with the main cast, scriptwriter, and the director. The series consists of eight, 45-minute episodes. "Las Invisibles" was created by Héctor Lozano, and directed by Menna Fité, and Marta Díaz.
The comedy title starring Lolita Flores, Maria Pujalte, Yoshira Escárrega, Paula del Río, Paula Mirá, Yaël Belicha and Elena Irureta, tells the stories of a group of maids who clean the rooms of a luxury hotel in the Mediterranean, while attempting to restructure their own lives.
Starring Hugo Silva and Elena Anaya, "Mentiras Pasajeras," produced by Paramount and El Deseo, is set to premier at the French Series Mania Festival on 20 March. The fictional series with eight, 30-minute episodes, portrays the life of main character Lucía. One month before her wedding, and just before being appointed as the director of the company where she works, she is betrayed by Santi, her promotion rival. Because of this, Lucía is accused of industrial espionage, and she gets fired without consideration, but decides to keep it a secret from her family. The acting cast includes Pilar Castro, Quim Gutiérrez, Susi Sánchez, María Botto, María León, Pedro Casablanc and Julián López. El Deseo, owned by brothers Agustín and Pedro Almodóvar created "Mentiras Pasajeras" as the first series in which Pedro Almodóvar himself acts as a producer.
