MIA MARKET CONFIRMS ITS TRADITIONAL EVENT FOR 2020

The key event of the entire Italian cine-audio-visual systemwill take place in Rome from 14th to 18th October and it also has launched Mia Digital, a new online platform where webinars take place.

The sixth edition of MIA 2020 is taking place from 14th to18th October 2020 in Rome in the familiar setting of the Distretto Barberini, aprotected and Covid-proof environment, thanks to protocols enabling fullnational and international participation at every event, with every necessarypublic health precaution in place.

On-site activities are being further enhanced and integratedby online activities thanks to a new and important instrument: the Mia Digital. An online user-friendly platform, easy to browse, allowing exclusive and livedirect access to thousands of users, from every device and operative system,the digital use of every activity and every service of the Market and thepossibility to access a vast catalogue of totally brand-new multimedia content.

The two webinars, promoted by the event in order to examinethe latest prospects of audio-visual distribution and production, are in factbeing held on 14th and 18th May.  The first was the panel “Back to the Future: after the lockdown what scenario foraudio-visual production?.” Where a number of producers are to discuss possibleways of restarting the sector and begin safely producing and shooting once again.

In the online event, Marta Donzelli from Vivo Film has described three current difficulties that production companies are facing in Italy. “One is the security protocol that garantice safety on the set; another big problem is the insurances because they are not connected with the coronavirus crisis and the last one is the increase of the production budgets”.

Jonas Dornbach from Komplizen Film has detailed the scenario in Germany. “In the country, every región has its own fund but they decided to join forces very quickly and create a rescue program. In two weeks they put 15 millons for every shooting that was ongoing and it had to stop for the coronavirus.” 

Alvaro Longoria from Morena Films (Spain) has talked about the new task force created to moderate the devastating effects of the crisis in the European ecosystem. “The main goal of this taskeforce is to prevent that devastation,” he indicated.

Carole Scotta from Haut et Court (France) has analyzed the situation in the old continent. “Europe, as a producing community has to support all thefronts in the best possible ways in order to re-star shootings,  to solve the insurance problems and we have tofind new ways of working,” she opined.

Furthermore, starting 15th May, submissions will be open forthe Pitching Forum And Co-Production Market, for the Film, Drama And Doc sections, which, this year is selecting around 50 projects from the whole world.
