The Walsh Sisters
Cineflix Rights has unveiled its MIPCOM 2025 slate, featuring a new family drama, a comedic thriller with A-list Hollywood talent, and a first look at a Nordic blue crime story. The line-up also includes new lifestyle & property, factual entertainment, blue-chip history, and true crime series, as well as fresh seasons of hit returning brands from some of the world’s most creative producers.
To begin with, leading the distributor’s scripted slate is "The Walsh Sisters" (6x60’, Cuba Pictures and Metropolitan Pictures for RTÉ in association with the BBC, Screen Ireland, and Cineflix Rights). Based on the best-selling novels by Marian Keyes, this darkly funny and emotionally raw drama follows five Irish sisters bound by love, history, and a shared tendency to self-destruct.
Meanwhile, "Hildur" (6x60’, Take Two Studios and Sagafilm in association with IPR.VC for Ruutu, Iceland, and Siminn, Finland), based on the novels by Satu Rämö, perfectly embodies the Nordic blue genre. It is a gripping crime thriller that blends mystery with warmth, exploring family, friendship, humor, and the power of love, all set against the dramatic and breathtaking landscape of Iceland’s remote Westfjords.
In addition, "Sunny Nights" (8x60’, Jungle Entertainment and Echo Lake Entertainment in association with Cineflix Rights for Stan, Australia) offers a darkly comedic crime drama directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell ("Colin from Accounts", "Hacks"). The series stars Will Forte ("The Four Seasons", "Last Man on Earth", "Bodkin") as strait-laced American Martin Marvin, who teams up with his reckless sister Vicki, played by D’Arcy Carden ("Nobody Wants This", "The Good Place", "Barry"), to launch a spray tan business in Sydney—with hilariously chaotic results.
On the factual side, "A New Life in the Sun: Win a B&B" (15x60’, True North Productions for Channel 4, UK) is an entertaining competition and actuality-based extension of one of the UK’s most beloved lifestyle brands. Here, couples compete for one of the most ambitious prizes ever: the keys to a beautiful bed and breakfast in the heart of the French countryside—and the opportunity to change their lives forever.
Likewise, "Top of the Block" (40x30’, Scott Brothers Entertainment for HGTV Canada) features three design-savvy families going head-to-head in a friendly neighborhood showdown. Each episode sees contestants open their doors to a brutally honest panel of peers who judge their bespoke interiors for a chance to win cash, prizes, and bragging rights.
Furthermore, "Kobe: The Making of a Legend" (3x60’, CNN Original Productions, US) takes an intimate look at the life and legacy of an American icon. The series explores Kobe Bryant’s journey, shedding light on the unseen forces that shaped his greatness, redemption, and humanity.
In the same vein, "Rookie Truckers" (8x60’, Prospero Productions for Seven Network Australia and Channel 5, UK) follows eager yet inexperienced drivers as they tackle the wild and unforgiving Australian outback, taking charge of some of the longest and heaviest vehicles in the world for the very first time.
Additionally, "Recording Evil" (3x60’, Totseret Ha’Aretz Productions for KAN 11, Israel) is based on the British Army’s secret recordings of Nazi soldiers and officers held as prisoners of war. These covert tapes expose the atrocities of the Holocaust in the Nazis’ own words—unaware that their conversations were being spied on.
Turning to the true crime slate, Cineflix Rights introduces several new and gripping titles. First, "Billionaire Boys Club" (4x60’, CNN Original Productions, US) tells the true story of a gang of 25-year-old finance prodigies who descend into crime—kidnapping, robbing, and even murdering their affluent targets amid the excess and greed of 1980s Los Angeles.
Next, "Most Likely to Murder" (10x60’, Law&Crime Productions for Law&Crime Network, US) uncovers what happens when once-popular students become ruthless killers, revealing the dark secrets of the privileged young people who fell into the world of crime. Moreover, "Don’t Open the Door" (20x60’, Cineflix and C3 Media for A&E, UK) delves into chilling real-life stories of unsuspecting individuals whose lives are forever changed when a stranger’s knock leads to unimaginable terror.
Finally, "Kill/Switch" (10x60’, Law&Crime Productions for Law&Crime Network, US) explores how cunning modern criminals commit murder and then assume their victims’ identities, creating an even darker form of identity theft. These new series join returning seasons of long-running factual favorites including "Château DIY", "A New Life in the Sun", "Help! We Bought a Village", "The Yorkshire Auction House", and the award-winning format "Tempting Fortune".
Tim Mutimer, CEO of Cineflix Rights, described the slate: “Our MIPCOM 2025 slate brings a much-loved Irish family from the pages of Marian Keyes’ best-selling novels to life for viewers, and a Nordic blue detective story set in one of the world’s most strikingly beautiful locations. On the factual front, we have an exciting competition format from one of the UK’s most popular lifestyle franchises, the inside track on the formative years of one of the biggest global sports stars ever, and a host of new titles for our market-leading true crime slate. Alongside these, we have fresh seasons of some of our buyers’ favorite dramas and factual hits, providing buyers with the best new and returning content from our incredibly creative producer partners around the world," noted.
