MIPCOM 2025: TVF International unveils 100+ hours of new factual content

Premium history is leading the distributor’s slate, starting with the Channel 4 and SBS documentary "Escape From Chernobyl: 48 Hours That Changed the World".

TVF International is heading to MIPCOM with over 100 new hours of premium factual programming, leading by Channel 4 and SBS documentary "Escape From Chernobyl: 48 Hours That Changed the World" (2x47 / 1x90) from Like a Shot Entertainment, commemorating forty years since the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

From Sky History, the distributor is taking "The Last Burma Star" (1x45) to market, which follows Major Levison Wood and historian Alex Bescoby as they pay tribute to Burmese veterans who fought alongside British and Commonwealth forces in Burma, one of the most brutal theatres of WII.

The distributor is also launching new premium history titles from Asia at MIPCOM, including "Asia’s Ancient Civilisations", Series 3 (4x47) from Singaporean public broadcaster, CNA, and "Si Thep: Ancient Civilisation of the Sun God" (1x52) from ThaiPBS, which combines CGI and archaeological digs to explore Thailand’s ancient town of Si Thep.

The world’s first in-depth documentary about the weight loss “wonder drug” Ozempic is coming with the distributor to market, with CBC’s "The Ozempic Effect: Beyond the Waistline" (1x44 / 1x50). TVF International is launching the second season of Bloomberg’s Emmy Award-winning science series "The Future with Hannah Fry" (6x30), and the latest episodes of CBS’ pop-science programme, Innovation Nation. Two-part space series "Voices of the Universe" (2x52) from Somadrome is also new for MIPCOM, which brings together 18 Nobel prize-winning scientists to answer humanity’s most pressing questions about the universe.

Elsewhere in science, the distributor is taking "The Nuclear Option" (2x47) from CNA to market, which evaluates nuclear power as the search for clean energy solutions intensifies, Curious Film’s "Confessions of a Brain Surgeon" (1x52) for the BBC, about the ethics and toll of high stakes medicine, and Cable Rock Pictures’ "Hooked: The Science of Addiction" (3x52), exploring addiction and recovery from smart phones to heroin for RTÉ.

The distributor is also packing an original series for their trip to Cannes: "Great British Train Journeys From Above"(4x47), narrated by Hugh Bonneville. The series, coming to Channel 4 and SBS this autumn, celebrates 200 years of train travel.   

In lifestyle, new Channel 4 series Saving Britain's "Country Houses with Penelope Keith" (10x47) from Somersault Studio is on its way to MIPCOM, which follows homeowners racing to keep their historic country homes intact across the UK. In food, the distributor is serving "Lunch With Us" (6 x 23) from CNA, which takes viewers inside the lunchtime rush in restaurants across Asia, and CBC’s "Not Your Butter Chicken" (4x23) about the South Asian food scene in North America.

In factual entertainment, "Canada’s Off Road Rescue", Series 1 (6x47) for Telus follows road rescue workers in extreme conditions, as well as "Inside Police Coast Guard" (2x47), following the officers policing Singapore’s off-shore islands and territorial waters.

Finally, in true crime, the distributor is launching award-winning series "Australian Crime Stories: The Investigators" (12x52) from Nine Network, in which the best detectives from Down Under revisit the toughest cases of their career.
