MIPTV confirmed the line-up for this year’s Mipdrama, the annual showcase which gives international buyers an exclusive early-stage preview of global high-end drama series. It will be held as a pre-opening showcase at the 61st edition of the Spring International Television Market in Cannes (8 – 10 April 2024).

First staged in 2016, the showcase returns for its eighth edition as a standalone event at 14.30 on Sunday 7 April 2024 in the Hi5 Studio of Palais des Festivals in Cannes, and is this year hosted by journalist Olivia Kinghorst. As previously, up to 15-minute-long previews of 10 upcoming series will be featured, selected for their quality in writing and production, originality and potential global appeal. After the screening, the audience will be invited to vote for their “Coup de Coeur” at a networking cocktail at which the winner will also be revealed.

The selection, spanning 14 languages across all titles, was made by a jury of leading international industry executives comprised of Geraldine Easter, Director of Programming and Acquisitions UK and Europe, Nine Network; Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions, UK/ROI and Europe, Sky; Anette Rømer, Formats Consultant, BBC Studios Nordic Productions; and Dr. Viktoria Wasilewski, Head of Content, Prime Video Italy; with Senior Directors, Acquisitions, for CBC Jenna Bordeausx and Radio-Canada, Simon Depuis contributing as co-Jurors.

Buyers will see excerpts from the following series (in alphabetical order): "Eva & Nicole", "Icebreaker", "Irreversible", "Miss Austen", "Palo Alto", "See her again", "The sentinels", "The black forest murders", "Valhalla project" and  "We´re on it, comrades!.

Let's remember that over 130 exhibitors, including major studios and distributors, are set to host stands on the exhibition show floor at the forthcoming 61st MIPTV Spring International Television Market joining producers and buyers from an expected 80 countries in Cannes for the global content and co-production market. The 2024 conference programme will additionally feature keynotes, exclusive analysis and future facing Miplab tracks focusing on key areas including Financing and FAST, with the Mip Global Fast & Avod Summit exploring international opportunities within this sector’s explosive growth.  Additionally, international Series Festival Canneseries will again run alongside MIPTV from 5-10 April.
