Series Mania 2023: A strong delegation from Québec to attend the market

Over 50 industry and creative professionals will attend Festival Series Mania and two Québec series, "Désobéir, le choix de Chantale Daigle" and "Nichole" will compete in the market.

A delegation of nearly 50 industry and creative professionals from Québec will attend Festival Series Mania from March 17 to 24, 2023,and the associated Forum from March 21 to 23, 2023, in Lille, France. SODEC congratulates the two Québec series in competition, "Désobéir, le choix de Chantale Daigle" and "Nichole", and also looks forward to hosting the next edition of Coming Next From Québec at the Festival.

"Désobéir, le choix de Chantale Daigle", written by Isabelle Pelletier and Daniel Thibault, directed by Alexis Durand-Brault, produced by ALSO Productions, and distributed by Attraction Distribution will compete in the Panorama International category. The series is eligible for four awards handed out by the professional jury, one award by the student jury, as well as for the people’s choice award. "Nichole", a web series written by Guenièvre Sandré, directed by Guenièvre Sandré and Gabriel Savignac, and produced by Inséparables Films, will compete in the Short Formats category.

SODEC is once again partnering with Bell Media, Quebecor Content and Radio-Canada, as well as with Télé-Québec for the first time, to present seven up-and-coming series that are ready to launch on the international market to an audience of international broadcasters, buyers and programmers:

• "Après le déluge", produced by Zone3 / ZAMA Productions, presented by Bell Media
• "Avant le crash", produced by Productions Sovimage, presented by Radio-Canada
• "Bon matin Chuck" (ou l'art de réduire les méfaits), produced by St Laurent TV, presented by Bell Media
• "La candidate", produced by Encore Télévision, presented by Radio-Canada
• "L’aird’aller", produced by Urbania, presented by Télé-Québec• "Les perles", produced by Encore Télévision, presented by Quebecor Content
• "Mégantic", produced by ALSO Productions, presented by Quebecor Content



SODEC is supporting the delegation of Québec industry and creative professionals going to Lille by offering a special accreditation rate and providing meeting spaces at the Pavillon Québec créatif. The organization is also subsidizing promotion for the series in competition, as well as travel costs for their teams and for the producers and creative talent involved in Coming Next from Québec.

MARKET SCREENINGS
"À propos d’Antoine"—written by Cathleen Rouleau, directed by Podz (Daniel Grou) and distributed by ComediHa! Distribution—was selected by Variety as one of seven not-to-miss series at the recent Berlinale Series Market and will receive a market screening. The series is already garnering acquisition interest in many countries.

Four Québec series will have prime visibility in the Series Mania video library: "L’aird’aller" (Urbania), "Mégantic" (ALSO Productions), "Fragments" (Amalga Créations Média) and "L’empereur" (Productions Sovimage).Two episodes of each series can be viewed by accredited professionals, including international buyers.

SODEC is also participating in the Producers to Watch session organized by Telefilm Canada to introduce three emerging Québec producers: Alexandre Lavigne and Gabriel Savignac, producers of the web series "Nichole" and Lou Bélanger, producer of "Bon matin Chuck" (oul'art de réduire les méfaits).
