Anne Olzmann, Managing Director atAlbatross World Sales
Albatross World Sales maintains a strong focus on wildlife titles. One of its current highlights for the global market is a film about the Przewalski horses in Hungary ("Wild Horses –A Tale from the Puszta”, 52’ and 90’), which has been a festival favorite and has won multiple awards.
Recently the German distributor has also added new travel content to its catalogue. In this line, Albatross highlights “Beautiful Italia” (9x26’), a hosted series about Italy. "We took on this beautiful project which gives an all-new look and feel to the history, culture, people, foods and wines found across the regions of Italy. And, we're looking for partners for the series", asserted Anne Olzmann, Managing Director at the company to Señal News.
The company is also bringing Werner Herzog’s film, “The White Diamond” (80’) to the market. “With Werner Herzog’s 80th birthday next year, we’re convinced that his film can have a second life on screens all over the world.”
To become part of Albatross’catalogue, productions must meet certain standards. "We are mostly looking for specials, usually one offs or limited series that have a high production value, that can travel well internationally and attract a broad audience," commented Olzmann.
According to the executive, 2021 was a very good year for the company so far with a sustainable growth. "Our approach really remains to maintain boutique character and to establish long-term relationships with our buyers, partners and producers by working closely together," stated the Albatross Managing Director.
Albatross World Sales wants to continue to grow and include more projects that are in development or in the early production stage. "We're happy to get involved in projects early on to help close finance gaps. That's definitely something we want to be more open towards. Besides working with different financial models to lift a project of the ground, we also want to share our knowledge of the international market and thus assist in making the project a perfect fit for a global audience.” said Olzmann.
