Alex Avon: "Our main goal is to share the best in feel-good comedy and dramedy with the LatAm community"

The Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer of Just For Entertainment Distribution explains the recent rebranding of the company and emphasizes the objective to expand in Latin America.

Last February, Amuz Distribution was renamed Just For Entertainment Distribution, following its integration into the Just For Entertainment parent company after the major June 2024 acquisition of Just For Laughs. Alex Avon, Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer of the company, explains this move and details the main goals in Latin America.

This year, Amuz Distribution rebranded as Just For Entertainment Distribution. What are the main reasons behind this rebranding?
"Amuz Distribution rebranded in February 2025 to Just For Entertainment Distribution to better align with our parent company, Just For Entertainment (JFE). JFE is a privately owned entertainment company that began as ComediHa!. They rebranded to JFE in Fall 2024 after acquiring the Just For Laughs Group, which features the globally loved Just For Laughs Gags program, among others. JFE produces live comedy—including this summer’s upcoming Just For Laughs Festival—and music events in several countries; it also produces television programming—scripted, music, and comedy specials. We distribute feel-good television programs both produced in-house and by third-party producers."

In addition to content distribution, you also offer monetization through FAST channels and OTT platforms. Could you explain this strategy?
"Our FAST channels give us a way to expand the reach of our portfolio of programs. In April this year, we announced a partnership with Pluto/Paramount TV to bring the Just For Laughs Gags FAST Channel to Canada, Latin America, Brazil, France, Italy, and the Nordic countries. Just For Laughs Gags offers viewers hidden camera pranks, timeless humor, and laugh-out-loud moments that appeal to all ages. No dialogue—just universal comedy guaranteed to brighten viewers' day anytime they tune in. There are 25 seasons. We’re currently on 30+ different platforms/markets (Samsung TV Plus, Roku, Xumo Play, Google TV, Rakuten TV, Sling TV, and others), making Just For Entertainment Distribution one of the largest independent Canadian media companies in terms of FAST channel reach."

Just For Entertainment Distribution’s main mission is “keeping the world feeling good.” How do you achieve this goal considering the current international context?
"Just For Entertainment Distribution has been curating the best comedy and feel-good titles over the past few years, and we distribute programs from our production division, which produces multi-award-winning comedies like the dramedy series 'About Antoine', currently debuting its second season. We’re fortunate that our parent company is constantly producing fresh shows. In the coming months, we’ll be producing the 12th season of 'LOL : )' as well as a new comedy series called 'Vineyard Frenemies' (working title), which highlights themes of friendship and the challenges of business ownership in a vineyard setting."

You recently sold the comedy series “LOL :)” to Uruguay. What other sales have you achieved in Latin America?
"LOL : ) is currently only in Uruguay. Our multi-award-winning dramedy series About Antoine and its accompanying documentary, Amazing Antoine, are currently available on Netflix in Latin America, and Season 2 will be available in July of this year."



What is JFE Distribution’s main goal in the region?
"Our main goal is to share the best in feel-good comedy and dramedy with the Latin American community—shows with heart and humor."
