Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian: "I treated each 'Tara Duncan' episode like a movie"

The creator, writer and producer of the hit brand explains how was the process to adapt the famous fantasy novels into an animated series and describes the work behind this extraordinary IP.

After a global success in the literary world, a great experience in cinema, the French bestseller writer, producer and Princess Sam Pictures Entertainment Group CEO, Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian decided to get into the series universe with the launch of the animated series of "Tara Ducan", based on her bestseller fantasy novels. "I created 'Tara Duncan' series at the moment of the covid pandemic started, it was crazy," said Audouin-Mamikonian to Señal News.

The successful writer, creator and producer confessed that she wanted to reach Disney quality, meaning that she would have to spend between 15 and 17 millions euros to produce the animated series. "I confronted the market and the investors were so amazed, impressed and eager that we raise the money, and we still are raising it because we sold the series to many broadcasters in the world, and till now we raise 300 million," stated.

According to Sophie, the investors understood that "Tara Duncan" is a global success brand that exists for more than 20 years already, and it has fans all over the world that now they want to see the series. "The investors understood that because we had this very strong base, it could be interesting to invest in a company that will develop not only the animated series, but also a video game and an entire universe," added "Tara Duncan" creator.



"Tara Duncan" (52x13') is a fantasy-adventure series with 300 different characters and high-end quality. "As a writer, the script is super important for me, I treated each episode like a movie," said Sophie. "Each episode is shining, is really well done, that is the reason why we spend almost three years in production, and now we are preparing the second series," she anticipated.

ITS OWN IP'S
Audouin-Mamikonian highlighted that to have the own properties and in house productions is the key nowadays. Princess Sam Pictures has more than 40 properties. The company is developing “Clara Chocolate”, a series about a very funny little girl with her imaginary dragon and other IPs in animation or live action such as “Indiana Teller” and “Tiny Galla”, adapted from others Sophie’s books.
