The five-part series "The Camorrist", based on the synonymous film, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, Oscar winner was filmed in 1985, but never was launched. After a glimpse of two episodes at the Rome Film Festival, the production company behind the series, Titanus Production, featured the series at Series Mania.

"At the beginning, my father (Goffredo Lombardo) rejected to do the film because it was so expensive and Tornatore was too young. He thought it was impossible to do a film about the founder of 'La Camorra', because it was too dangerous. But Tornatore didn't hear my father and announced in a press conference that he will do the film," remind Guido Lombardo, current President of Titanus Production in a chat with Señal News. "At that time, Tornatore shot one film and five episodes and it cost a lot of money. The film was fantastic but after two weeks in theatres it has to be removed and the series never went out," he continued. "Two years and half ago, we thought we have to find out where is the series, we got it, and we noticed that it looked like a film made it now. The restoration was overseen by Tornatore himself and now we are showing the series to players from all over the world," Lombardo said.

"The Camorrist" tells the story of The Camorra boss known as "The Professor", who manages and administers the reformed Camorra from prison. Helped by his faithful sister Rosaria, the man escapes from the penitentiary and creates a powerful criminal organization that manages to infiltrate all levels of society.

The series, produced by Titanus Production and RTI - Mediaset and distributed by Minerva Pictures, will be aired by Mediaset in Italy and has been acquired by AMC for Spain (Sundance tv) and Portugal. "The Camorrist" has been sold to Slovakia, CIS and Baltics so far.
