Set to be a US$272 billion industry by 2030, up from $98 billion in 2020, mobile gaming has become the dominant segment in the global video games sector, according to data and analytics company GlobalData.
A new study from Juniper Research identified digital games as the sector to generate the highest revenue by 2026, accounting for 45% of the global market value.
The streamer is looking to hire an executive to oversee its expansion into gaming, a person familiar with the matter said, a sign that it is ramping up efforts to grow beyond its traditional business as streaming competition intensifies.
Global gaming market will generate revenues of US$175.8 billion in 2021, a slight year-on-year decline of -1.1%. By the end of the year, there will be 2.9 billion players worldwide, according to Newzoo’s “Global Games Market Report”.
