ITALIANS SPEND 356 MIN PER DAY WATCHING TV IN FULL QUARANTINE

The figure represents 108 minutes more than the same period last year and also increased consumption on the main SVOD platforms in the country.

Italians are going to complete a month of obligatory quarantine and one of the consequences of this exceptional period is the increase in consumption of TV content, totaling 356 minutes a day, 108 minutes more than the same period last year, according to Nielsen data and Auditel.

The most consumed content is news and analysis programs (20%), but the number of television series, movies and entertainment programs also grew.

Between March 8-28, an average of 14.5 million Italians watched television, 4.4 million more than last year and 2 million more than the week before.

INCREASE IN DIGITAL CONSUMPTION

The main VoD platforms also experienced growth of 18% in the reference period, with the highest peaks recorded by Amazon Prime Video (interactions of + 511%), Timvision (+ 128%), Infinity (+ 85%), Disney + (+243 percent), and Netflix +15 percent.

The pay TV platform Sky Italia added two new movie channels, available for free to subscribers from April 4 to 30.

Sky Cinema channel #IoRestoACasa 1 will be dedicated to the whole family with the latest movies, cult films from the past and premiere films, while Sky Cinema #IoRestoACasa 2 will offer action movies, including TV premieres, timeless classics and great Italian movies.
