ABC Commercial has sold the live-action kids’ series, "Planet Lulin," to Paramount for their Nickelodeon UK and Ireland platforms. Produced by Moody Street Kids and Princess Pictures, the title will join the Nickelodeon UK lineup, available across Sky, Virgin Media, and TalkTalk Plus TV. In Ireland, it will air on Virgin Media Ireland, Eir TV, and Sky Ireland. "Planet Lulin" premieres on Nickelodeon UK on Saturday, January 11, 2025
Aimed at 7-12 year-olds in the UK and Ireland, the live-action series tells the coming-of-age story of Lulin, a spirited pre-teen girl experiencing some "little green changes" due to her human dad and extra-terrestrial mom. With the help of her dad, Ken, and her alien grandmother, Ezme, Lulin navigates her unique challenges as the first human-Astoradian, including her unpredictable powers. Vibrant, funny, and heartfelt, "Planet Lulin" explores themes of self-discovery and belonging while capturing the cosmic chaos of adolescence.
First launched on ABC TV in 2023, "Planet Lulin" quickly gained a fanbase with its quirky, colorful sci-fi premise. It earned a nomination for Best Direction in a Children’s Series at the Australian Directors’ Guild Awards 2024. The series is helmed by a stellar creative team, created by writer Melanie Sano ("Neighbours," "Larry the Wonderpup") and directed by Craig Irvin ("Nowhere Boys"), Sarah Hickey ("Crazy Fun Park"), and Nina Buxton ("Paper Dolls").
