“Dramaworld”
Amazon has acquiered Korean drama “Dramaworld,” produced by Third Culture Content, for its premium free streaming service IMDb TV in the US. The rom-com adventure series is starring Liv Hewson (“Yellowjackets,”), Daniel Dae Kim (“Lost”), Sean Dulake (Operation Chromite), Justin Chon ("Blue Bayou"), Brett Gray (“On My Block”), Henry Lau (“Oh My Venus”), Ha Ji-won (“Secret Garden,”) and Nuri Bae ("Unstoppable"), and the first two seasons of the hit series were premiered on February 12.
Sean Dulake, actor, co-founder, and CEO of Third Culture Content says, “Given the recent success of massive Korean series and films like ‘Squid Game’ and ‘Parasite,’ ‘Dramaworld’ is a series that celebrates the genre of Korean entertainment by transporting viewers into a fantastical world where all Korean dramas exist. We follow a diverse cast of characters who come from different cultures and speak different languages that band together to save a world grounded in love. For viewers who’ve never seen a Korean drama before, think of ‘Dramaworld’ as your gateway introduction into the genre that’s sweeping the world.”
Created by Josh Billig and series director Chris Martin, the award-winning first season of “Dramaworld” originally debuted on Netflix and Viki. The series follows Claire (Hewson), an American girl obsessed with K-drama and underwhelmed by her real life working in her father’s deli. When a supernatural twist of fate catapults her into the world of the Korean dramas she obsesses over, she meets Seth (Chon), a facilitator who keeps “Dramaworld” turning through deft but undetected intervention in each storyline. Claire tumbles headfirst into “Taste of Love”, starring her K-drama crush Joon Park (Dulake). When Claire upsets the equilibrium of “Dramaworld” by kissing Joon, she sets in motion a series of unexpected events which threaten its very existence.
Following its 2016 debut, season one of “Dramaworld” has won accolades in South Korea, France and the U.S., including “Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year” at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
“Dramaworld” season two is a co-production between U.S.-based Third Culture Content and South Korean production company Raemongraein (RMRI) in association with T&B Media Global. Executive Producers are Alex Cotraviwat; Sean Dulake and Chris Martin of Third Culture Content; YouTube Co-Founder Steve Chen; Jamie Chen; Dong Rea Kim of RMRI; Simon Lee, Founder of AI linguistic data company Flitto; and Daniel Dae Kim of 3AD, who facilitated the Amazon deal.
