Anna Croneman has been appointed as the new CEO of the Swedish Film Institute. She is expected to take up her post in mid-April 2024 after she leaves her role as head of drama at Sveriges Television (SVT). Anna Croneman trained as a producer at the Swedish Institute of Dramatic Art. She joins the Institute from SVT, where she has been Head of Drama since 2017. Before that, she was with Avanti Film, a production company she co-founded. Anna Croneman has produced many films and TV series and has held positions of trust, including Vice Chair of the Swedish Film Institute board and the Swedish Film&TV-Producers Association.

“Swedish film is facing some huge challenges, and the task ahead feels quite overwhelming at this point. Having said that, it is, of course, a great honor to take over as CEO of the Swedish Film Institute. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I promise to do my utmost to establish a new and better foundation for the future of Swedish film and the preservation of our film heritage alongside expert colleagues and some of the leading representatives of our industry in Sweden,” said Anna Croneman.

“The Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Anna Croneman to leading the Swedish Film Institute forward. With an extensive background in film and television, she has the qualities and expertise necessary for the role. She joins the Institute at just the right time, bearing in mind the recently initiated film inquiry,” said Gunilla von Platen, Chair of the Swedish Film Institute board. “We would also like to thank Åsa Sjöberg, who has been standing in as CEO temporarily and has done an excellent job at the reins.”
