Following the success of the "Planet Earth III" and "Frozen Planet II" Minecraft Worlds, BBC Earth and Minecraft Education are teaming up once again to engage millions of players globally with a new gaming adventure: "Building With Dinosaurs."

Over twenty-five years ago, the BBC released one of its most beloved original series, "Walking With Dinosaurs." Now, a new generation of fans can experience the dino-drama for themselves, inspired by the latest science and discoveries. To celebrate the 2025 return of "Walking With Dinosaurs," Minecraft Education and BBC Earth have come together to create "Building With Dinosaurs," a dino-themed build challenge that puts students in the role of paleontologists, digging through dirt and sand to uncover dino-blocks hidden beneath their feet.

Just like the paleontologists in "Walking With Dinosaurs," students will build their understanding of prehistoric creatures from the ground up. After excavating dino-blocks representing different types of skin, eyes, and teeth, they'll use their discoveries to construct models of three dinosaurs featured in the series: Spinosaurus, Lusotitan, and Triceratops.

Using detailed skeletons as guides, students can build their own versions of these awe-inspiring dinosaurs in a museum gallery. As they uncover more dino-blocks, they’ll be able to add increasingly impressive details to their models. And once complete, students can photograph their dinosaur creations in immersive environments for an epic dino photo shoot — say cheese, Spinosaurus!

To support the curiosity of young paleontologists-in-training, the "Building With Dinosaurs" build challenge is accompanied by a downloadable fact sheet featuring three dinosaurs from the game. The fact sheet includes information such as height, weight, diet, and habitat, helping students better understand these incredible creatures and create more accurate models.

Kirsty Wilson, Showrunner for "Walking With Dinosaurs," highlighted the educational component in an engaging way: 'We’re proud to team up with Minecraft Education to give children around the world the chance to interact with iconic dino characters inspired by "Walking With Dinosaurs." This interactive classroom gaming experience lets students step into the world of dinosaurs in a fun and engaging way, learning how these incredible creatures lived and ruled the Earth millions of years ago," commented.

Finaly, Justin Edwards, Director of Learning Experience at Minecraft Education, stated that the content will deepen the connection with learning about natural history: 'Minecraft Education is delighted to bring this amazing dinosaur experience to students. This world, created in partnership with the BBC Studios "Walking With Dinosaurs" team, brings STEM skills into classrooms by creating a deeper connection with the world of palaeontology and natural history. We know that dinosaur fans are going to love it!," noted.
