BBC secures rights to Miraculous Corp’s "Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir"

The new agreement, brokered by Mediawan Kids and Family, includes seasons one through six of the series, along with five Miraculous World TV event specials.

Miraculous Corp, the joint venture between Mediawan, Europe's independent production powerhouse, and ZAG, the independent animation studio, is thrilled to announce that BBC Children’s and Education has acquired the broadcasting rights to the global hit animated series Miraculous - "Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir". The new agreement, brokered by Mediawan Kids and Family, includes seasons one through six of the series, along with five Miraculous World TV event specials. Season five will debut on CBBC this week, bringing the exciting superhero adventures to CBBC audiences across the United Kingdom.

The award-winning series, created by Thomas Astruc, Nathanaël Bronn, and Jeremy Zag, has captured the hearts of millions around the world with its unique mix of action, humor, and heartfelt storytelling. The show follows two Parisian teenagers, Marinette and Adrien, who transform into superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir to protect their city from mysterious villains, all while managing the challenges of school, friendships, and their secret identities. The Miraculous World TV event specials extend the adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir beyond Paris, introducing new locations and fresh characters.

Meanwhile, Sarah Muller, Senior Head of Commissioning 7+ at BBC praised the company: “We have always loved Miraculous and are so excited to bring it to our CBBC audience, who we know will love it as much as we do,” "The show’s exciting mix of action-packed plots, relatable characters, and themes of courage, teamwork, and responsibility make it a standout addition to CBBC’s lineup of family-friendly content," noted.

In addition to the six seasons, which total 156 half-hour episodes, the five Miraculous World TV events feature new locations and characters. These include Miraculous World: "New York – United HeroeZ", where the duo travels to New York City to join forces with American superheroes against a new threat; "Miraculous World: Shanghai – The Legend of LadyDragon", where Marinette meets a resourceful girl in Shanghai who helps her discover a new magical jewel; "Miraculous World: Paris – Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir", which explores a parallel universe with darker versions of Ladybug and Cat Noir; and "Miraculous World: London – At The Edge of Time", where Marinette becomes Chronobug and teams up with Bunnyx to defeat a mysterious opponent who travels through time.

In the UK, Miraculous – "Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir" is also available on Disney+, which holds the first-window streaming rights, Pop TV, and Netflix (seasons 1-4 + 2 TV event specials).
