Beta Film has closed a deal with HBO Max, who acquired the crime drama by Oscar® nominee Jasmila Žbanić for the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. The deal also includes Beta's Serbian thriller, "Children of Evil," based on the best-selling novel by Miodrag Majić.
The deal is secured following the World Premiere of "I Know Your Soul" at this year's Venice Film Festival. Further negotiations with key European partners are currently underway for both shows. In addition, the second season of muti-nominated crime series "The Silence" by Dalibor Matanić will be available for streaming on HBO Max on 9 November, produced by Drugi Plan and HRT in collaboration with Beta Film and Ukrainian Producers Hub.
"I Know Your Soul" is produced by Deblokada and BH Content Lab for BH Telecom and will be available on HBO Max starting 23 November. I Know Your Soul is directed, written, and produced by Jasmila Žbanić, who also takes on the role of showrunner, adding another powerful drama to her portfolio, which includes HBO’s Emmy®-nominated The Last of Us and the critically acclaimed Oscar® and BAFTA® nominee Quo Vadis, Aida?
In "I Know Your Soul," European Film Award-winning actress Jasna Đuričić plays Nevena Murtezic, a prosecutor in the midst of a divorce and single mother to a teenage son. The case of an adolescent’s suicide triggers an avalanche of events in her professional and private life as she finds it increasingly difficult to balance the relationship to her son Dino (Lazar Dragojevic) and a job under constant public and political pressure.
The thriller series, "Children of Evil" unfolds as a masked perpetrator commits a ritualistic murder of a prominent politician, leaving a golden coin in his hand. Nikola Bobic, a defense attorney popular among criminals, reluctantly takes on a new case and becomes part of a dangerous game that will change his life forever. Directed by Ivan Stefanović (Grupa) and Vladimir Tagic (Morning Changes Everything), the series is produced by Firefly Productions for Telekom Srbija.
