"Secrets in the Ice"
Boat Rocker Studios, a division of global media company Boat Rocker Media, has announced a raft of global deals for several of its latest documentary series and specials as its unscripted portfolio continues to grow, including “Secrets in the Ice,” “Hell in the Heartland,” “Secrets of a Psychopath,” and “Unexplained: Caught on Camera”.
“Secrets in the Ice,” from Shark Teeth Films, was commissioned by Discovery Science US and premiered in 2020, followed by its debut on Super Channel Canada in January of this year. Since then, the first season has generated strong international interest with sales to A+E UK, Poland, Romania, South Africa; Nat Geo for MENA; and Discovery Benelux and RTI for Italy. Further sales of the series, including its second season, which delivers this spring/summer 2021, closed with A+E Ole in Latin America and Caribbean; Bell Media’s Canal D in French Canada; Prava I Prevodi in Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia; Prosieben in Germany; and A+E in UK, Poland and South Africa.
The first two seasons of “Unexplained: Caught on Camera” were picked up by Discovery+ USA and successfully premiered on the new streaming service last month as part of their TRVL offerings. This entertainment clip show shines a light on the truly remarkable and unexplainable footage captured every day by the general public.
Meanwhile, Foxtel Australia/NZ picked up CNN Productions’ “Hell in the Heartland: What Happened to Ashley and Lauria?” and “Secrets of a Psychopath,” produced for CBS Reality Network in the UK. Both series were also taken by Nordic Entertainment Group for their Viaplay SVOD service in the Nordics and Baltic regions.
Elsewhere, AETN for the UK, History Channel in Germany and Quebecor’s streaming service Club Illico for French Canada also acquired “Hell in the Heartland: What Happened to Ashely and Lauria?”. At the same time, RTL Germany and Sundance Now USA and Canada have taken “Secrets of a Psychopath”.
