CBC and KOTV confirm the production in Montreal of a third season of the time-bending anthology drama series "Plan B" (6x60). An adaptation of the popular French-language drama series of the same name (now in its fourth season for Radio-Canada), the new season will focus on a new story, starring Carolina Bartczak ("Painkiller"), Arnold Pinnock ("The Porter") and Ennis Esmer ("Children Ruin Everything"). Additional casting includes Arianna Shannon making her screen debut, as well as Jaeden Noel ("Orphan Black: Echoes"), Carolyn Taylor ("Baroness von Sketch Show") and Grace Lynn Kung ("Sort Of").

In Season 3 of "Plan B", Abigail Walker ("Bartczak"), the host of Canada’s top morning TV show, grapples with the devastating loss of her teenage daughter, Lucy (Shannon), to suicide. Tormented by grief and regret, Abigail uses the Plan B Agency to embark on a series of time-traveling journeys, desperate to alter the past and prevent Lucy's tragic fate. As she attempts to protect Lucy from the toxic relationships that contributed to her downward spiral, Abigail's actions create ripples that affect not only Lucy's life but also the lives of those around her.

Season 1 of "Plan B", starring Patrick J. Adams and Karine Vanasse, and Season 2, starring Vinessa Antoine, offer gripping, reality-altering drama with unique storylines, showcasing characters navigating life’s what-ifs and second chances.

A CBC original series, "Plan B" is produced by Quebec-based production company KOTV. Jean-François Asselin, who co-created the original French-language series, co-directs with Marianne Farley, and also co-writes with Celeste Parr, for this English adaptation.

NEW LAUNCHES ON CBC GEM
CBC Gem streaming service will offer the exclusive Canadian premieres of two premium international series next month. All episodes of British drama "Joan" (6x30, Snowed-In Productions for ITV and The CW), starring Sophie Turner ("Game of Thrones") as Joan Hannington, the notorious British jewel thief of the 1980s, begin streaming on Friday, October 11.

Australian comedy series "Austin" (8x30, Northern Pictures and Lincoln Pictures in association with Screen Australia and Screen Canberra for ABC) stars Michael Theo ("Love on the Spectrum") as a neurodivergent 20-something who claims to be the adult son of a best-selling children’s author, which may be exactly what the recently cancelled author needs to save his career and his marriage to Ingrid (Sally Phillips).

“Working alongside valued partners such as ITV Studios and All3Media, we look for series featuring memorable characters that audiences in Canada won’t find anywhere else, to offer on CBC Gem,” said Jenna Bourdeau, Senior Director, Acquisitions, CBC. “The personal journey in Joan of a jewel thief in the glamorous era of the 1980s will no doubt steal viewers’ attention, and with Austin, we were excited to see fan-favourite Michael Theo in another lead role, which is so perfect for him. These new series complement Gem’s growing library of best-in-class content from Canada and around the world.”
