"Ramses The Great: King of Ancient Egypt"
Cineflix Rights has announced multiple deals for Pernel Media’s blue-chip documentary series "Ramses The Great: King of Ancient Egypt". The sales were announced at this year’s World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, in Marrakesh. In this way, Cineflix Rights strengthens its partnership with Pernel Media by acquiring two new high-caliber history series set to premiere next year.
Hearst Networks UK and EMEA has acquired the series for multiple territories including the UK, Ireland, Benelux, Czech Republic, Middle East, and Sub Saharan Africa. Viasat has bought the series for its History Channel across the Nordics, Baltics, as well as Central and Eastern Europe. Other sales include Mediaset Italy for its FOCUS Channel, AMC History Iberia, Warner Bros. Discovery Spain’s channel DMAX, and Radio-Canada’s channel Explora.
"Ramses The Great: King of Ancient Egypt" (6x60’, Pernel Media for Planète+ & C8, France) features cutting-edge science and unique access to the latest archaeological discoveries, to expose the man behind the myth. The series reveals how, for the past few thousand years, this mighty ruler has remained a caricature of his own propaganda. The Pharaoh's remarkable destiny unfolds in six spellbinding episodes that bring his astounding 67-year-rule to life—a legendary reign during which he turned a fallen empire into one of the most powerful realms of all time. It’s an immersive journey that features CGI reconstructions, jaw-dropping footage, and insightful commentary from passionate experts who bring ancient Egypt to life like never before—and who reveal Ramses’ darkest secrets and lies along the way.
Catherine McCormick, VP, Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights expressed excitement about the expansion of agreements with Pernel Media: “'Ramses The Great: King of Ancient Egypt' brings new revelations of his darkest secrets wrapped up in a gripping family saga, with cinematic dramatisations which really bring the story to life for viewers. Blue-chip history featuring iconic figures is always in demand, so we are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Pernel Media and distributing two more of their latest series next year," commented.
FInally, Céline Payot Lehmann, International Executive Producer at Pernel Media outlined some of the key points of the series: “Pernel Media has developed a real know-how in ancient history with beautiful dramatic recreations and ultra realistic CGI, that travel really well. We’re thrilled by our first collaboration with Cineflix Rights, who have done a great job at promoting and selling the series and are eager to do more!," noted.
