The Canada Media Fund (CMF) thanks the Government of Canada for its new funding of $60M to Canada’s film, television and digital media sector. The details released in the recent Federal Budget are a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to make Canada’s creative sector more inclusive.
“The government’s support for Canada’s content industry is welcomed and appreciated. This new funding will enable the CMF to move forward with our equity and inclusion strategy over the next three years to create permanent change in our sector,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF.
“We value the government’s trust in the CMF and the work we do to foster Canada’s screen-based sector. We know that Canada is home to outstanding talent and compelling stories from equity-deserving communities that audiences at home and around the world want to see. This investment will help bring these stories and ideas to audiences on all platforms," she indicated.
“We thank the government for recognizing the importance of the $9.3B TV and film production industry in Canada and are very encouraged by the government’s commitment of $105M over three years to Telefilm Canada, and $40.1M to support the vital work of the Indigenous Screen Office,” she concluded.
