Sports streamer DAZN has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to the semi-finals and the final of the FIFA Club World Cup soccer tournament in Spain.
The OTT platform’s coverage from the international club soccer competition, which is taking place in Qatar’s capital city of Doha, began on 17th December as South America’s Copa Libertadores winner Flamengo took on Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.
DAZN will then broadcast the second of the two semi-final matches on 18th December, as UEFA Champions League winner Liverpool face Mexican outfit Monterrey, before airing the tournament’s final on 21st December.
The acquisition adds to DAZN’s soccer portfolio in Spain, where it recently agreed a three-year sublicensing deal with commercial broadcaster Mediaset for rights to the Copa del Rey club soccer knockout tournament - its first domestic soccer package.
