Escapade Media boards new drama "Grassroots" from Storyfirst and Hipster Films

This deal also sees Escapade secure Asia-Pacific rights for the series and will be taking the project to market later this month.

Escapade Media has joined Storyfirst and Hispter Films as an Executive Producer on their new 6-part drama series, "Grassroots", produced By Dominic Barlow, created by John Godber OBE and written by Elizabeth Godber, Jane Thornton and Nicola Quilter.

This deal also sees Escapade secure Asia-Pacific rights for the series and will be taking the project to market later this month. This is the second project that sees Escapade working with Storyfirst. Natalie Lawley, Escapade Media, states “This series is so timely and with the incredible creative team behind it, we are very excited to bring this series to market across Asia-Pacific. Storyfirst create premium original scripted content, and it is a real privilege to be working with them.”

"Grassroots" (6x60’ 4K) is a timely story of women who play the toughest sport on the planet, with an international spin. Set in a post Brexit and post Covid world where levelling up is the watch word. In this world, "Grassroots" will put individual everyday challenges against the collective drive and ambition of a women’s rugby league team.
