Boonie Bears: Back to Earth" debuted on 32,000 screens and 8,000 cinemas on its opening weekend in February. The title earned $142 million within the first three weeks of its performance in cinemas. Ranking among the top three to reach record domestic box office numbers in the history of Chinese animation releases, it was succeeded only by "Nezha: Birth of the Demon Child" and "Legend of Deification." Both of these titles were adapted from ancient Chinese stories, while this title is an original story."
Boonie Bears, now spanning more than 120 terrritories, has been distributed worldwide by Disney, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, DirecTV, Sony, Discovery, Sky in the UK, amongst others. Along with media production the Boonie Bears brand has a wide recognition on merchandising market, licensing more than 3,000 SKUs spread around 200 categories.
The animation brand has maintained its popularity in China for years, entertaining the youngest audience with" Pre-School and School TV series and nursery rhythms, followed with comedy adventures stories for older kids, and films for all age groups. Boonie Bears feature films series totaled RMB 4.2bln, $659,86mln, with audience numbers reaching 100 million.
