Fox has handed out a series order to “The Cleaning Lady,” a mob drama starring Elodie Young that is based on an Argentine series. Originally developed and ordered to pilot last season and stalled by the pandemic, the broadcast network extended the options on the cast and filmed the drama in February after production resumed.

“The Cleaning Lady” is a darkly aspirational character drama about a whip-smart doctor who comes to the United States for a medical treatment to save her ailing son. But when the system fails and pushes her into hiding, she refuses to be beaten down and marginalized. Instead, she becomes a cleaning lady for the mob and starts playing the game by her own rules.

Miranda Kwok penned the script and executive produces alongside showrunner Melissa Carter, Shay Mitchell, Rose Marie Vega, and the Argentine show’s Paola Suarez. Michael Offer directed and executive produced the pilot. The series is a co-production between Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment.
