Following a new partnership with Fremantle, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) is launching a local Canadian version of “Family Feud”, one of the most iconic and longest-running game shows in the world. “Family Feud Canada” will be hosted by actor and comedian Gerry Dee (Mr. D) and is set to launch on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service this December, airing four evenings a week. Fremantle will hold the distribution rights to the series.

“Family Feud Canada” (60x30’) will showcase families from all over the country as they compete to guess the most popular answers to family-friendly survey questions from a sample of Canadians. Each episode will be packed with hilarious play-along fun as the families go head-to-head in a bid to win cash prizes.

Producers have auditioned families from coast-to-coast and filming of the series will begin this November. The series premieres on December 16 at a special time of 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service, before moving to its regular timeslot at 7:30 p.m. (8 NT) beginning December 23.

Michela Di Mondo, SVP, Canada, International at Fremantle, said: “We’re incredibly excited to introduce a local version of ‘Family Feud’ into Canada with our fantastic partners at CBC. The format has been a huge global hit for many years, and we are thrilled families across Canada have a chance to participate. We look forward to watching all the laugh-out-loud moments this winter”.

“‘Family Feud Canada’ will build on the success of Fremantle’s popular format by offering an opportunity for audiences to connect and celebrate with families from all across Canada,” said Sally Catto, General Manager, Programming at CBC. “We are looking forward to reflecting our country’s diverse range of experiences and perspectives with this fun glimpse into the lives of Canadians four nights a week”.
