Baluba recently reported positive results stemming from its strategy to make significant investments in the Young Adult genre. The company recently secured six Kristallen-nominations this morning, three of which were directly toward Young Adult drama series.

”Over the past few years our strategy has been to position ourselves as a key producer in the genre of Young Adult content and I’m so pleased to see our programmes finding their audience in an already tough scripted market. We’ve all been so inspired to work with the amazing young talent involved in these shows, both in front and behind the camera. These are the stars of tomorrow," says CEO of Baluba, Linnea Kia.

The announcement of the Swedish TV Awards Kristallen nominees revealed Baluba as a front runner in Young Adult content. The Fremantle-owned production company has three nominations in the genre: Best Young Drama, "Heartbeats" for CMore/TV4. Best Female Actress for Nora Rios in "heartbeats," and Best Female Actress for Madeleine Ferraud in "All That Remains For SVT.

In addition to that, the long-running success series "Task Master," "Bäst i test" for SVT, scored two nominations for Best Male Host and Viewers Favourite and the Lifestyle series "My 200 Year Old Boyfriend," Min historiske pojkvän for TV4, is nominated for Best Lifestyle Show.

Moving forward Baluba plans to raise their stakes within the Young Adult genre. ”We have done extensive research that conclude that Young Adult is an overseen possibility. If we do it right, we believe it can find a very big audience in a variety of age groups," says Head of Scripted at Baluba, Erik McAllister – who has several new projects in the genre lined up for the upcoming
pitchseason.
